Module 9: Leading a Team on Call
Following the launch of HSC Learn we no longer accept applications through this website.
To apply for this programme please visit - http://learn.hscni.net/
Purpose
There is a significant relationship between effective team work and patient satisfaction and mortality. Many healthcare teams are required to be fully functional without any time to establish interpersonal relationships. It is therefore necessary for doctors in training to know how to be an effective team member prior to joining the team.
The module will describe the principles of effective team work, communication and leadership and participants will consider how they can apply these principles to improve teamwork and the safety of patients. Participants will consider communication techniques that are appropriate for urgent referral of a patient, for handover and briefing/debriefing. Participants will reflect on techniques that can be used to challenge and to resolve conflicts.
