Purpose

The ILM L5 Middle Manager Award aims to give practising middle managers help to develop their skills and experience as well as improve performance and prepare you for a more senior role in health and social care.  The focus is very much on the key behaviours required to manage and lead in health and social care and the developmeny of knowledge, skills and practice to support this role.

Learning Outcomes

Upon programme completion, participants will have a greater awareness and acknowledgement of:

  • The organisation, it's values, objectives and culture, and how your role as a middle manager is key to ensure objectives and performance are managed appropriately
  • Fundamental Management and Leadership Skills and behaviours required tosupport and develop in accordance with key priorities and objectives, e.g., Collective Leadership
  • Service improvement tools and methodologies what will support a service improvement project within your team and the necessary leadership and management skills to embed improvements
  • Techniques to enable middle managers to manager people, performance and team development
  • progress your personal development and formulate a clear plan of actions
  • How your behaviours have an impact on others, including team colleagues, and external stakeholders
  • Personal effectiveness, especially when presenting key information to a more senior level

Audience

There are no entry requirements; however the programme is aimed at team Leaders/Managers at bands 5 and 6 who must have management responsibility

ILM Fee - £99 + Vat per person

 

Method

5 full days delivery

  • Day 1 & 2 - Leadership & management, managing Self & Personal Skills
  • Day 3 & 4 - Leading Innovation & Change, Managing Improvement
  • Day 5 - Presentation Assessment

Three assessments to complete, two work based assessments submitted as written pieces of work and one presentation to be assessed.  One of the assessments needs to be on a project that is/has beenworked on. The presentation will be on this
