Leaders in Practice



This programme is for leaders who manage people on the front line in Social Work and Social Care.  These leaders will develop critical reflection skills and new insights into their management and leadership, equipping them for their challenging role.  This will be clearly demonstrated through a transfer of learning into managing practice on the front line.  Not only will they personally beneft but the rewards will be reaped by staff, service users/carers and by their Trust/organisation.

Learning Outcomes

NI Social Care Council - Professional in Practice:

This is an accredited Programme for four requirements in the NI Specialist Award in Social Work - 1, 3, 7 and 8.

Due to the current Covid-19 restrictions this will be initially an online programme, supported by e-learning materials with ongoing tutor and group interaction on Zoom.


We will be running an online information session on 20th October 2020 from 11am to 12pm for those interested prior to signing up by 30th October 2020.



Module 1:  Leading effective practice at the front line

Module 2:  Leading teams on the front line

Module 3: Improving social work practice and services within a changing environment

Module 4:  Enhancing your performance

Please note: participants will be required to complete two tutor-marked assessments, a reflective journal, a presentation and scheduled e-learning.

Course Cost

2 MD places from your Trust SLA or £1,846.  Programme approval must be obtained from the Trust SLA Lead and in agreement with Social Work Training Team.
