Purpose

NI SAS Leads are delighted to announce the release of Department of Health funding to support SAS continuing professional development for 2020/21.  To enable as many SAS Doctors as possible to benefit from this initial funding, NI SAS Leads have worked with the HSC Leadership Centre to produce a range of training opportunities including three Masterclasses with outstanding guest speakers.

Masterclass 1:     Gina London

The Language of Leadership

Tues. 19th January 2021, 8pm – 9.30pm 

 

An Emmy-winning former CNN correspondent and anchor, Gina has worked with companies and executives around the world developing their ability to connect and engage with their employees, their board and themselves more positively. She provides insight into the power of communicating with purpose and impact. A published author and regular media analyst, Gina has appeared on the BBC, FOX, and CNN. Gina has been interviewed on radio and TV across the world, and currently writes a weekly business leadership column, “The Communicator” in Ireland’s largest circulated newspaper, The Sunday Independent.

 

 

Masterclass 2:     Sarah & Andy Massey 

Being A Leader Where You’ll Never Walk Alone

Thurs. 25th February 2021,  8pm – 9.30pm 

 

Sarah Lindsay(Massey) and Andy Massey will talk about their career journeys which have led them to the pinnacle of supporting elite sport.    They will discuss the leadership qualities required to work within a team in a high pressured sporting environment.  One that traditionally sees a high turnover of staff directly related to performance.   They will also discuss the challenges of balancing career and family life particularly Sarah’s experience of being female in the male dominated environment of competitive sport.    

 

Sarah is currently the Team Doctor at Liverpool Football Club as well as a Doctor for the English FA and also a GP.  Before this she was the Team Doctor for the Belfast Giants and the NI Ladies Football Team.    

Andy is the Medical Director at FIFA, the governing body of world football, and was previously Head of Medical Services at Liverpool FC and the National Team Doctor at the Irish Football Association.  

 

Sarah and Andy met while working for the Belfast Giants Hockey team.  

 

 

Masterclass 3:     Digital Healthcare Masterclass           

Led by: Big Motive Directors Damian Cranney and Rebecca Walsh

Tues. 9th March 2021, 8pm – 9.30pm 

 

This masterclass will comprise an overview of digital health trends as well as a panel discussion on digital health. The panel will walk through local examples of digital health innovation and focus on process as well as behavioural change.  It will be delivered by Big Motive and include a panel of leaders in healthcare and design together for a 1.5 hour session of conversation and Q&A with participants.  This will be an interactive and engaging session.

 

Big motive have been involved in the design and delivery of digital healthcare projects such as the COVID App in Northern Ireland. In an interactive masterclass they will highlight some of the major developments in digital healthcare and their future application.

 

Co-Founder and Managing Director, Damian Cranney is a passionate advocate for human-centred design and the role of design as an enabler to innovation and the creation of products and services that can transform business, society and the quality of life for people everywhere.

 

He has worked with global businesses on strategy and transformation projects, including Unilever, Honda, Nike, Oracle, RTE, Channel 4, BBC, Net-a-Porter.com, Allstate and Danske Bank. As Managing Director of strategic design and innovation studio Big Motive, Damian advises a number of clients pursuing product innovation, cultural change and the development of design capability, most recently working on the award winning Northern Ireland COVID 19 App.

 

Rebecca Walsh is Design Director at Big Motive and a Chartered Mechanical Engineer (IMechE). She holds an MEng (Hons) Aerospace Engineering from Queen’s University Belfast and brings ten years’ of experience in human-centred design and service innovation to her role at Big Motive.

 

Rebecca’s focus is ensuring the delivery of high quality experience design projects for a range of Big Motive’s clients. Using her wealth of knowledge and expertise, she also delivers an interactive design-led module for the MBA programme at Queen's University.

 

Rebecca worked with the Department of Finance Innovation Lab as the first service designer in NI’s Civil Service. She is a passionate advocate for better service design across health and local government and recently led a multi-disciplinary team to deliver Northern Ireland’s COVID-19 response service for the Department of Health in Northern Ireland.

 

A member of the NI Matrix panel as well as a STEM ambassador, Rebecca also currently presides on the board of the Service Design Network Ireland.

Masterclasses are only open to SAS Doctors and Dentist working HSC Trusts and Agencies.
