Purpose

This is a  short course for staff migrating to work in the Strategic Planning and Performance Group within the Department of Health has been launched.

Understanding the mechanics of how government works is valuable knowledge for public servants at all levels. The  Machinery of Government course provides an opportunity to better understand their role and impact within the structure and context of the Department.

Participants will learn how their contributions help to achieve the goals of the Department.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of this programme participants will be able to:-

  • Reviewing the structure of the Department, Executive and Committees
  • Understanding the role of the Department of Health 
  • Understand  the different types of correspondance and how they are dealt with
  • Exploring the remit of the Executive and cross-cutting issues
  • Learn practical tips 

Audience

Anyone within HSCB particularly those moving to the Strategic Planning and Performance Group

The course, which runs for four hours, will be held on the following dates:

Wednesday, 8th December (pm)

Monday, 17th January (am)

Tuesday, 25th January (am)

Friday 18th February (am) 

Method

This 1/2 day programme will help attendees understand the mechanics of government within Northern Ireland.
