Purpose

This is a one-day course for staff who work in the Strategic Planning and Performance Group within the Department of Health.

 

Understanding how Northern Ireland Assembly Questions are answered and how different types of communication sent to the Minister work are dealt with is valuable knowledge for public servants at all levels. This course provides an opportunity to better understand how to deal with communications sent to the Health Minister.

 

This course deals with the majority of communications including different types of Assembly Questions; Communications with the Health Committee; Treat as Official Requests; Correspondence Case and other Ministerial submissions and many others.

 

Participants will learn how to respond to these different types of communications and how their contributions provide support to the Health Minister, helping boost their confidence when dealing with these communications.

  • Understand the different types of communication sent to the Minister and how they are dealt with
  • Review and understand the structure of these Communications
  • Understanding the role of the Department of Health officials in responding to these communications
  • Build Confidence and learn practical tips in responding to these communications and providing support to the Minister

SPPG Staff only who may be required to draft Ministerial submissions; draft Assembly Question answers; Deal with Correspondence cases; Deal with Treat as Official Cases; provide in person briefing to the Minister.

 

Participants should already have attended the Machinery of Government Course delivered earlier this year by the HSC Leadership Centre.
