Succession Planning

The HSC Leadership Centre plays a key role in supporting effective succession planning across the system, ensuring a strong pipeline of capable leaders is developed and sustained for the future.

Our approach focuses on preparing current and aspiring leaders to successfully transition into more senior roles, while supporting organisations to plan proactively for leadership continuity.

 

Succession Planning Programmes

We design and deliver tailored succession planning programmes for leaders at:

  • Head of Service level
  • Assistant Director level
  • Director Level

These programmes support leaders across clinical, professional, and corporate services.

They are designed to support participants to:

  • Develop the skills and capabilities required for senior leadership roles
  • Increase readiness for progression and future opportunities
  • Build confidence in leading at greater strategic and organisational levels

Each programme is informed by organisational need and aligned with wider leadership and workforce priorities.

 

Coaching Support

Through our coaching offering, the HSC Leadership Centre provides both career and life coaching to individuals and leaders across the system. Coaching supports individuals to reflect on their leadership practice, build self-awareness, and prepare effectively for new and more senior roles.

Coaching can support leaders to:

  • Build confidence and resilience
  • Navigate leadership transitions and increased responsibility
  • Prepare for future leadership opportunities

Recruitment and Selection

In addition to development and coaching, the HSC Leadership Centre plays a pivotal role in the recruitment and selection of senior leaders across the system. This work supports the identification and appointment of capable and values-driven leaders, aligned with organisational and system priorities.
