Focused Conference Input

Creating a space for debate and curiosity at large events tailored to the needs of a specific audience and tone requires a range of skills consultants are enthusiastic to share, highlighting breadth as well as depth of knowledge.

The HSC Leadership Centre is often approached to design and deliver focused and condensed input at a range of events such as Medical and Social Care conferences. This enables consultants to put the spotlight on the current professional topics and objectively share evidence-based practice whilst also stimulating debate across large audiences. The annual Ulster Obstetrical and Gynaecological Society Conference in June 2025 required structured input on professional self-care, approaching the HSC Leadership Centre to plan and deliver this content.

By valuing self-care as an integral part of promotive, preventive, curative and rehabilitative care (WHO,2019), the Centre consultancy engaged with a range of sources to inform a lively, interactive and importantly evidence-based input. The aim was to succinctly increase awareness of what self-care is and how this could be harnessed to promote well-being and performance in the workplace, as well as challenging attendees to contribute to a self-care culture more broadly within their organisations.

As a result of this platform a range of outcomes were achieved, such as:

  • Awareness raising self-care, recognition of the indicators of stress, greater self-awareness of well-being by HSC staff,
  • Sharing of benefits of early intervention regarding stress management, particularly for medical staff,
  • The provision of guidance regarding practical self-care methods, tools, resources,
  • Identification of challenges to maintaining self-care and how these can be overcome through practical next steps.
